Medvest Begins Mississippi Medical Office Development

CANTON, MISS.

Capital Growth Medvest has started its first medical development in the state of Mississippi. Working alongside Merit Health, a major operator of twelve hospitals across Mississippi, Medvest will develop a $9 million medical office building in Canton. The new 35,000 square-foot facility will be located next to Merit Health’s existing 67-bed hospital.

The new medical office building will strengthen Merit Health’s presence in Central Mississippi, which includes six hospitals. The facility’s services will include primary care, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics and other specialty providers. Pre-leasing has begun for the remaining square-footage.

Upon completion, patients in north Madison County will be able to conveniently visit their physician in Canton, rather than traveling to Jackson. “My ultimate goal is to make our city a magnet for many types of healthcare specialties,” said Canton Mayor Arnel Bolden, as reported in the Madison County Journal.

Brasfield & Gorrie and Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood are the project’s general contractor and architect, respectively. Construction began last month and its planned completion is the end of 2016.
