Medvest & Harbert Complete Research & Innovation Center

The joint venture between Capital Growth Medvest and Harbert Realty Services has completed its first building in Auburn Research Park. The new Research & Innovation Center, a 5-story, 105,000-square-foot structure, opened in September. It houses Auburn University’s Research and Economic Development organizations, Harbert College of Business Tiger Cage Accelerator and Incubator, Amsterdam Café, commercial space, and the university’s newest event center, 540 at The Park.

“The park’s Research and Innovation Center brings first-class minds to a first-class facility,” said Bill Dean, executive director of the Auburn University Research and Technology Foundation. The new center was designed by Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood and constructed by Brasfield & Gorrie.

540 at The Park offers executive meeting and reception space, including traditional and advanced equipment for presentations and video conferencing. The unique event center includes The Boardroom, an executive-style 22-seat conference table, and The Devall Room, a 580-square-foot boardroom with audio and visual systems.

Amsterdam Cafe, a long-time Auburn-favorite, has a new location on the first floor and is currently open for lunch. The restaurant will extend its hours to include breakfast service in the future. The New Venture Accelerator, with 7,000-square-feet of office space, provides students, faculty and community members the right opportunity and environment to craft today’s business models that appeal to investors.

Capital Growth Medvest and Harbert Realty Services are currently working to complete a second development in Auburn Research Park that will be owned and operated by East Alabama Medical Center. It is scheduled to open in early next year.
